The tournament is back.
The biggest independent wrestling show in the United Kingdom, PROGRESS Wrestling's 'Hello Wembley' is currently on-going and nearing its final two championship matches - those being the PROGRESS Women's and PROGRESS World Title bouts. Before those matches kick-start it was announced via the 'Alexandra Palace' Twitter account that the 'Super Strong Style 16' tournament will be held at their venue once again in 2019 beginning on May 4th.
The first entrant into next year's tournament is none other than former PROGRESS World Champion Travis Banks. Banks was set to take on the winner of the 2018 'Super Strong Style 16' Zack Sabre Jr. in the main event of today's show. Unfortunately for both men, on Zack Sabre Jr.'s side he had contractual obligations with NJPW and Travis Banks suffered an injury prior to 'Hello Wembley' and eventually dropped the PROGRESS World Title and their championship main event match that was set for 'Hello Wembley' was rearranged and filling in for that is the new main event of WALTER versus Tyler Bate for the World Championship.
Earlier on the show Trent Seven defeated Doug Williams to become the new PROGRESS Atlas Champion and as of result of that and the stipulation that hovered over their match, Doug Williams had to retire from wrestling.
