Trick Williams Believes He Gets The Crowd More Hyped Than Jey Uso

Trick Williams discusses how "Whoop That Trick" has caught on with the NXT crowd.

Since seperating from Carmelo Hayes and "becoming his own man" in NXT, Trick Williams has become one of the most over acts on the brand. With his entrance music leading the crowd (and Booker T) in a singalong whenever it plays, Williams has found success as North American Champion. He is now set to take part in the Iron Survivor Challenge at Saturday night's Deadline event.

While speaking to ComicBook.com's Matthew Aguilar, Trick talked about his reaction when the chants began back during the brand's time as NXT 2.0.

"The funny thing is people started chanting whoop that trick, this is during the 2.0 time, and I remember the first time I heard it and Melo kind of looked at me and he was like, 'they for us or they against us?' I'm like, 'I think they for us, dog'. We just kind of roll with it. Slowly but surely the chants just kept being louder and louder and louder and louder over time. Whenever I had a moment, whoop that trick, whoop that trick."

Williams continued, noting the "crowd were right there" when his new theme song debuted.

"And then once the theme changed and once I came out to face Dragunov and the theme changed, it was so crazy because the whole crowd was in unison, almost like, man, we don't have any plants. They was right there," Williams said. "It's like everybody knew, oh, this is the moment we're going to bring it in the right way. And the new theme played and they was right there, whoop that trick. Oh, this is tough right here. This is tough."

Finally, Trick was asked who gets the crowd more hyped during their entrance, he or RAW's Jey Uso. Williams replied simply, "Man, Jey's a bad boy, but I think the whoop the trick movement is something unparalleled," he said.

Trick is currently scheduled to compete in the Men's Iron Survivor Challenge at NXT Deadline on Saturday night, defeating Joe Coffey on the November 14th edition of NXT to qualify for the match.

Williams also recently noted that his long term goal is to face off with Roman Reigns in the future. You can read more here.
