WWE is in a new place and being viewed differently according to Stephanie McMahon and Triple H.
Earlier this month, Stephanie McMahon hosted a presentation with WWE roster members at the Emmy For Your Consideration event. WWE was attempting to get three of their products to be nominated for an Emmy. On the red carpet, McMahon told ESPN that WWE should be in the position among other forms of entertainment.
"It's exactly where the WWE belongs. This is something that has been in the works for a very long time. We've evolved to a place where we actually have this opportunity where we can prove that WWE belongs here. When you consider that Monday Night Raw is the longest running weekly episodic television show in history, with over 1,300 episodes," said McMahon.
Triple H took part in the presentation and the red carpet. He expressed the same sentiment as McMahon that WWE has evolved into a new era.
"I think it's the natural evolution, but for some forms of entertainment it takes longer. We have inspired and entertained generation after generation. Those generations are now moving up and becoming the decision-makers. Generations before maybe saw something like us differently. As you look at the event tonight, hundreds of thousands of people come to our events globally, we are an entertainment force," said Triple H
WWE recently agreed to sell the broadcasting rights to Smackdown for a much higher value than ever before to Fox and NBCU renewed their rights for Raw for an even higher value.
Fightful Wrestling will continue to cover the development of WWE as an entertainment company.
