The Undertaker feels WWE superstars are treated in the same way as mainstream sports athletes.
With WWE currently going through a significantly hot period, several stars on the current roster have found themselves in mainstream circles, including the likes of Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and more.
While speaking on the Hall Of Fame podcast along with Booker T and Brad Gilmore, The Undertaker spoke about his belief that the athletes themselves are treated on the same level as stars from the NFL, NBA and other formers of live entertainment.
“I think the athletes themselves are treated on the same level as the [stars] from the NFL, NBA, and other genres of entertainment. I think WWE superstars are looked at on that same light. I think we’ve always been the most recognizable athletes and entertainers because we have so much TV time but now, just in general, they’re treated [the same way]. A lot of times when we came up, we were treated like circus sideshow things a lot of the time. Now, it’s like, ‘Oh, you’re in WWE?’. It’s crazy the people that are fans. Backstage on any given night, who’s gonna show up and they’re just wanting to tell you their wrestling stories. It’s just like, dang, we have an impact on people’s lives.”
Elsewhere in the same appearance, The Undertaker also discussed his belief that wrestling is about storytelling and not wrestling moves. You can read more about that here.
