"When I played basketball, I had an opportunity to play...I grew up in Houston. I got the chance to play with the Phi Slama Jama guys in the summer league. I got to play at Fonde Rec. Fonde Rec in Houston in the summer, you never knew who would be in there. Whether it be Moses Malone, [Charles] Barkley, all these guys. I had a high school coach who went to the University of Houston and then I get to go to Hofheinz Pavilion and play with the current Cougars. I was there when Olajuwon was there. I was convinced that everybody from Nigeria was tall. "how are all these people coming to Nigeria that are 6'11'' or 7'?' I'm in high school still, and I'm playing with all these guys, Clyde Drexler is there. Larry Mishaw, Rob Williams. All these guys are playing. I get on a team, finally. I get a run and I'm playing the two [Shooting Guard]. I'm a five [Center]. I have no business at the two," recalled Undertaker on his Six Feet Under podcast.
He continued, "We're coming down the court and I'm on Hakeem's team. I'm bringing the ball up the left side and he's running -- he's incredible. His footwork is next level -- He's running on the other side. He's wanting me to throw him an alley oop, but he was saying it in Nigerian, I guess. He was pointing [for the alley oop]. I'm like, I just crossed midcourt and he's pointing for an alley oop. 'Ah, crap.' I let it loose and I threw it and the ball was way above the box. I'm thinking, 'Crap, I just threw that away.' No. He caught the ball, on the run, above the box, dunked on this dude. We're running back up the court and he gives me a little, 'Nice pass, man.'"
The Undertaker could hoop.
Olajuwon scored 26,946 points in his NBA career, but perhaps his biggest bucket was during a pick up game in Houston.
