The Undertaker says WWE is not considered a sideshow attraction anymore.
The Undertaker was one of WWE's top stars throughout the 1990s and into the 2000s. He retired after his last match in 2020, but WWE continued thriving since then. Triple H took over as the head of creative, WWE merged with UFC to form TKO, and the company continues to break records. WWE also landed a major deal with Netflix that will see WWE Raw move to the streaming service in January 2025.
Speaking on his Six Feet Under podcast, The Undertaker commented on WWE's growth.
“From when I started to where we’re at now, it’s completely different. The way it’s perceived is different. The magnitude of the events are different, sponsors are different. All of this has happened within the last 20 years. I think we now are on the same level or close to the NFL, Major League Baseball, NBA, all the major sports groups and different entertainment genres, I think we are finally on that level where we’re not considered kind of like a sideshow circus kind of deal. It’s good, it’s good to know that I was part of that development of that system. The process to get into the PC is difficult, and it’s made so because we want the very best, just like the NFL wants the very best college players. It’s kind of the sake system. But yeah, in the last 20 years, we’ve really turned the page from kind of the sideshow deal to a major entertainment genre," The Undertaker said.
