Vince McMahon On His Decision-Making Process: Surround Yourself With Smart People And Listen To Them

Vince McMahon explains the thought process that goes into his decision-making and uses the original WWE Network platform as an example.

WWE Network was one of the first platforms of its kind with WWE opting to start a direct-to-consumer subscription service platform instead of a traditional television channel in 2014.

Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show on March 3, Vince McMahon talked about an offer made to WWE at the time by Comcast. Vince McMahon would tell Pat McAfee that they ultimately decided not to go with the Comcast offer at the time because they wanted to be able to have creative control and control their own destiny.

"Everything we do is calculated," Vince said. "You need to have really smart people around you, you need to listen to them, and make a decision. In that instance, we had a great deal that was given to us pretty much by Comcast. When we got into the lawyer stuff and nitty-gritty, they tried to tie your hands in so much creativity, tie your hands in terms of owning you -- I've never liked that -- really, it was more about creative control and having control of your own destiny. That's why we went that way."

Asked if he regrets any decisions, pertaining to this deal or any of his business dealings through the years, Vince McMahon would say that he doesn't regret any of it and that common sense plays a really big part in every decision.

"You need information as much as you possibly can and then common sense is a really big part of that in every decision we make. No. You learn from what happened if it didn't go well and that's factored into what you're doing going forward. No, I don't (regret) any of that," said Vince.

Of course, WWE would eventually end up in a partnership with Comcast as they are now part of the Peacock platform which is owned by NBCUniversal, which is owned by Comcast.

The next premium live event offering on WWE Network on Peacock will be WrestleMania 38, The Most Stupendous Two-Night WrestleMania in History. Learn why they are using the word “stupendous” to market the event at this link.
