WWE has been a family business for years, but Vince McMahon would advise against bringing family into business.
Though Vince bought the business from his father, and he has used his son Shane McMahon, his daughter Stephanie McMahon, and his wife Linda McMahon on TV, Vince believes sooner or later tensions boil in a family business.
"Everyone has to understand their place. When a family member thinks, 'Wait a minute. I've got this...' They don't quite have the vision as someone who's grown and created a business. They have a different vision, and it may work, but you know what? We're gonna go with my vision. I would advise anyone, don't bring your family into the business. It's brutal. Somewhere along the line, it's going to explode," Vince said on "Mr. McMahon."
Elsewhere during the documentary, Shane explained why he left WWE in 2009. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
All six episodes of "Mr. McMahon" are now streaming on Netflix.
Janel Grant, a former WWE employee, filed a lawsuit in January against Vince McMahon, WWE, and John Laurinaitis. The lawsuit accuses McMahon of sexual assault and sex trafficking. On May 30, Grant agreed to pause the lawsuit for six months while the federal investigation continued against McMahon, who resigned from TKO/WWE following the lawsuit being filed.
