Vince McMahon Reflects On Tearing His Quads At The 2005 Royal Rumble: 'That Takes Talent'

Vince McMahon, much to his chagrin, is not invincible.

While Vince McMahon boasts that he doesn't need sleep and then people will never see him tired, he is not above physical injury. In fact, he has suffered quite a few injuries throughout the years.

Perhaps the most famous of all of them occurred at the Royal Rumble in 2005 when he tore both of his quadriceps within moments of each other.

The incident occurred when Vince McMahon had to make an unscheduled run-in during an unplanned moment where John Cena and Batista hit the floor at the same time, leaving the ending of the match in doubt.

Vince McMahon addressed that moment during his March 3 appearance on the Pat McAfee Show.

"Actually, I blew the left one out twice. That was pretty unique. Not too many people can sever quads at the same time. That takes talent. You have no use of your legs at all. When you sever your tendons, you can't walk, stand, do anything. You have to learn how to walk all over again. That rehab is so important. If you go too fast, that's not good either," said Vince. "I like to push myslef as hard as I can, but you can't go too fast. I've had all kinds of...neck surgery, tricep surgery. I can't think of all the damn things I've had. [Spine] surgery. It's a combination of a lot of things."

Even in his seventies, Vince McMahon still insists that he likes physical competition. He told Pat McAfee as much. Read more here.

Vince McMahon's next public appearance will take place during the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony this year as Vince inducts The Undertaker on Friday, April 1, 2022.
