WWE Confirms SummerSlam Will Not Take Place In Boston

In not so surprising news, WWE has confirmed that SummerSlam will not take place in Boston this year.

Boston was set to host four nights of WWE actions with SmackDown, NXT TakeOver, SummerSlam, and Raw taking place at the TD Garden from August 21 to August 24. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, arenas have not opened back up for fans and it is unknown when that will happen.

As a result, SummerSlam has officially been moved out of Boston. WWE did not announce a new location, but said information regarding the location is forthcoming. All events since the pandemic started have taken place at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando.

From WWE:

In coordination with our local partners, government officials and TD Garden, WWE’s SummerSlam and related events will no longer take place in Boston. Refunds are available at the original point of purchase. We are grateful to the city of Boston for their longstanding partnership and look forward to holding WWE events at TD Garden in the future.

SummerSlam will stream live on Sunday, August 23, at 7 p.m. ET on WWE Network, and information regarding a new location for the event is forthcoming.

On Wednesday, WWE announced NXT TakeOver: Boston would be rebranded as NXT TakeOver XXX with the event still taking place on August 22. You can find more information by clicking here.
