Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics obtained government records for WWE Royal Rumble 2023, which revealed the city of San Antonio gave WWE more than $500,000 in value, including a $250,000 cash site fee, for the event.

San Antonio submitted expenses totaling $575,415.98 to the Texas Governor’s Office for reimbursement.

TKO executives have openly spoken about site fees being a major part of growth for WWE.

The LVCVA approved $5 million for World Wrestling Entertainment to sponsor WreslteMania 41 in 2025.

WWE previously filed a complaint against Texas Attorney General to prevent the release of the bidding contract, claiming that publishing the WWE agreement would hurt the city’s ability to compete for similar events.

The lawsuit is still ongoing.

Thurston reported in March 2023 that WWE sold 44,569 tickets, generating $7.3 million in net ticket sales revenue at WWE Royal Rumble 2023.

Royal Rumble 2023 was headlined by the men's and women's Royal Rumble matches and Roman Reigns defending the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Kevin Owens.
