During WrestleMania 37, WWE announced that the 2K series will return later this year with WWE 2K22.
WWE 2K took a year off after WWE 2K20 was plagued with bugs and issues. During the investor call in April 2020, it was confirmed that WWE 2K21 would not be made. Instead, WWE and 2K Games released 2K Battlegrounds, an over-the-top arcade action game.
The tagline for WWE 2K22 is "It Hits Different." Not much is known about the game, but WWE plans to keep fans informed with developer updates. In the first developer video, Creative Director Lynell Jinks shows some behind the scenes footage and tells fans that more videos will be coming from him and other members of the team.
