Sakazaki competed in the AEW Women's World Title Eliminator Tournament earlier this year, losing in the finals of the Japan side of the bracket to Ryo Mizunami.
She was part of the first-ever AEW pay-per-view Double or Nothing in 2019, teaming with Aja Kong & Emi Sakura in a loss to Hikaru Shida, Riho & Ryo Mizunami. She does hold a singles victory over reigning AEW Women's Champion Britt Baker, picking up the victory on the February 5, 2020 episode of AEW Dynamite.
AEW is headed back on the road in July with the July 7 episode of Dynamite to be held in Miami. It is unknown when Sakazaki will make her official return.
