Zachary Wentz On TNA X-Division Title Reign: It Was Short, But That's Okay Because I Made History

Zachary Wentz says the length isn't what people will remember.

At TNA Emergence, Zachary Wentz captured the TNA X-Division Championship by winning the Ultimate X Match. He then made history by competing as the reigning TNA X-Division Champion at NXT No Mercy, where he beat Wes Lee. Wentz's reign ended at 14 days when Mike Bailey defeated him at TNA Victory Road.

NXT Title Match Official For NXT Deadline 2024

Speaking with 3W-Wrestling, Zachary Wentz was asked to comment on what winning the TNA X-Division Championship meant to him.

“It means a lot because I feel like my style of wrestling is very much X-Division Championship style wrestling. I feel like the X-Division is the division in professional wrestling, and I feel like the X-Division style has completely influenced professional wrestling as a whole. If you look at the styles on other matches now, they’re very much X-Division type matches, so it definitely meant a lot to me, especially like I’ve said before, look at all the legends that have held the title, but not even just that. My brother, Trey [Miguel], he’s held that title, and he was a great champion, so it meant a lot to me. Yeah, it may have been a short reign, but that’s okay because I made history. At the end of the day, people aren’t going to look at that reign and go, ‘Oh, that was short.’ They’re gonna look at that reign and say, ‘Oh, he made history by being the first X-Division Champion to be featured on WWE television.’ So it means a lot to me," Wentz said.

Wentz previously said that winning the TNA X-Division Championship was redemption. Click here to see what he had to say.

Wentz has continued to feud with Wes Lee, and they are set to clash in a Chicago Street Fight on the October 1st episode of NXT.
