Yoel Romero Drops Chris Weidman At UFC 205

MMA

Yoel Romero came into UFC 205 looking to extend his winning streak against former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman and finished the fight leaving his opponent a bloody mess.

Less than 30 seconds into the third and final round of the fight, Weidman caught Romero's knee and the left side of his face immediately started spewing blood. Romero then pounced on Weidman, who was on the floor, and threw down heavy punches until the referee stopped the fight and awarded Romero the win.

The 39-year-old Romero said in the post-fight interview that he's now looking to challenge for the middleweight title.

"Doesn't matter what's happened in my life, I will keep moving forward and God has given the tools I need to win the belt," Romero said through the help of an interpreter.

Current champion Michael Bisping immediately gave his thoughts on Romero and his belief that he can defeat Bisping, giving him a disapproving nod, a middle finger and a thumbs down, before motioning that Romero was a PED user. Romero then called out Bisping, who was watching the fight in person.

"Mike, you see the real champion here," Romero said.

Romero has now won all 8 of his fights in the UFC, with his last three victories before Weidman being against Ronaldo Souza, Lyoto Machida and Tim Kennedy. This is the first time Romero has fought in 2016 after facing a six-month suspension from USADA back in April.
