Amanda Nunes Wants To Be Like Conor McGregor

Amanda Nunes is just a few weeks removed from defending her title against former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey at UFC 207.

Nunes has a reason now to watch former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm battle Germaine De Randamie to become the first ever UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion at UFC 208 -- she wants to a be a double champion.

“Conor McGregor did it,” said Nunes to MMA Junkie. “Why can’t I? Everybody got so excited when Conor did it. I think, with me, I think they’ll be excited too.”

Nunes believes the reason that she should get the first shot at the women’s featherweight champion is due to the fact that she destroyed PPV juggernaut Rousey in less than a minute.

“I defended (the belt) already, with the most dominant athlete on the planet,” she said. “Forty-eight seconds? I think deserve it if I ask for it for the next fight. I think the fans want to see it – a female fighter go to another weight class and take the two belts.”

McGregor held both the UFC Lightweight Title and the UFC Featherweight Title in 2016,  but was stripped of the UFC Featherweight Title late last year.
