Apollo Crews is the latest wrestler to lose part of his name
Similar to Cesaro, Elias, and Neville, Crews has been taken off of Apollo Crews' name on WWE's website. He has been listed as only "Apollo." In other cases, a wrestler losing part of their name has been part of a branding attempt which corresponds with the wrestler climbing the ladder a little bit. Cesaro's name changed and he got new t-shirts. Elias dropped the Samson while starting his concerts in the ring. Neville lost his first name when he moved from NXT to WWE.
If the new name is a company wide directive, there should be evidence of that when Crews makes his next appearance on Raw. He has been on television more lately as part of Titus Worldwide and under the tutelage of Titus O'Neil. Last week, he had a strong showing during a fatal four-way which was for the last spot in the Elimination Chamber. Seth Rollins and Finn Balor both ended up with that spot.
Fightful Wrestling will have live coverage of Raw tonight and a recapping podcast.
