Well, it was fun dreaming for a little while.
TMZ Sports reported late Friday that former UFC Welterweight Champion Robbie Lawler has already withdrawn from his planned UFC 205 fight with Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone for undisclosed reasons. The two were set for a marquee three-round fight.
The #6 lightweight and #7 welterweight Cerrone will remain on the UFC 205 card, and the company will look for a replacement. Cerrone is riding a three fight winning streak, going undefeated in each of his welterweight bouts in 2016.
Lawler last fought in July at UFC 201, where he dropped his Welterweight Championship to Tyron Woodley via a vicious first round knockout. The former 185-pound fighter has yet to comment on being forced to withdraw from the fight.
UFC 205 takes place from Madison Square Garden in New York City, and will serve as the UFC's first show in the state since the sport became regulated and legalized earlier this year.
