It may be iconic now, but the NXT Champion Bobby Roode wasn't too optimistic about his "glorious" theme.
Bobby Roode debuted in NXT with extended anticipation after first appearing in the crowd ringside at NXT Takeover: Dallas in April of 2016. In an interview with Inside the Ropes, he said his entrance theme "Glorious Domination" was popular before his television debut months later in August, but he admits he did not know if it was going to be successful.
"It was a unique situation. I was waiting on my work visa, so I could debut on tv at NXT. I already had a song that I picked out for my debut. I was talking to Triple H about my character, what I perceived it to be, and what I wanted to do here. He had the 'glorious' song in the archive. He had me listen to it," said Roode. "I thought to myself 'it's really different.' Obviously it's very different from anything else anyone has here or in all the business. I thought it could be really good or it could suck. Fortunately for me it turned into a glorious thing," he continued.
Roode also spoke about the process of producing his entrances and how they worked with the song. In past interviews he has revealed Triple H not only suggested the song but convinced him to use it. Coincidentally, Shinsuke Nakamura was offered "Glorious Domination" but he turned it down. Roode also talked with Inside the Ropes about the viral "Glorious Bombs" videos.
Bobby Roode is the reigning NXT Champion, with his last defense against Hideo Itami at NXT Takeover: Chicago. Since then, he has been feuding with Roderick Strong on episodes on NXT.
