Justin Trudeau wasn’t in attendance this past weekend at UFC 217 to watch Georges St. Pierre defeat Michael Bisping to win the UFC Middleweight Title. However, that didn’t stop the Prime Minister of Canada to congratulate GSP on winning the gold.

GSP returned to action for the first time in over four years to win the middleweight belt, which makes him only one of a handful of fighters to win two different UFC belts in two different weight classes.
Besides being the current UFC Middleweight Champion, the longtime MMA fighter is a former UFC Welterweight Champion and a former UFC Interim Welterweight Champion.
The country of Canada seems to have taken well to St-Pierre's return to MMA as UFC President Dana White claims that UFC 217 broke the Canadian PPV record, previously held by Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather earlier this year. At Impact Wrestling's Bound For Glory PPV on Sunday night in Ottawa, "GSP" chants broke out during a show that had nothing to do with him.
White also stated after the UFC 217 event that the newly crowned middleweight champion would face UFC Interim Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker in a title unification bout in 2018.
