A huge brawl took place at tonight's Wrestle Kingdom 12 press conference (which you can view above) as Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho came to blows as a result of Jericho's actions last night.
Kenny Omega first started the conference with his head bandaged up from last night's assault. He said that Jericho had taken advantage of his naivete by allowing himself to get jumped by Jericho after being distracted by a video. He said that this was not about having a five or seven star match, this was about two people who are willing to do anything to prove that they are the best.
After a few more announcements, including that the NEVER Six Man tag team titles will be on the line during the Road to the Toyko Dome on December 17, Chris Jericho came out. He repeated what Omega had said, that this is a battle of the Alpha vs. Omega and that you'll see a match that you've never seen before in New Japan.
It was at that moment that Omega jumped Jericho while he was in the middle of answering a question. Jericho smashed Omega with the press conference table as Gedo and Rocky Romero came to split things up. An angry Jericho took the microphone after and told reporters to mark down that this would be Omega's last match in Japan.
In addition, due to the events of the last 24 hours, two new title matches have been announced. Minoru Suzuki will defend the NEVER title against Hirooki Goto. If Goto fails to win the title, he will shave off his hair. And as a result of them winning the World Tag League, EVIL and SANADA will challenge champions Killer Elite Squad for the IWGP Tag Team titles.
The card so far is as follows:
- Kazuchika Okada vs. Tetsuya Naito for the IWGP Heavyweight championship
- Kenny Omega vs. Chris Jericho for the IWGP United States championship
- Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Jay White for the IWGP Intercontinental title
- Marty Scurll vs. Hiromu Takahashi vs. KUSHIDA vs. Will Ospreay for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight title
- Roppongi 3K vs. The Young Bucks for the IWGP Junior tag team titles
- Cody vs. Kota Ibushi for the Ring of Honor World title
- Minoru Suzuki vs. Hirooki Goto in a title vs. hair match for the NEVER Openweight championship
- Killer Elite Squad vs. EVIL and SANADA for the IWGP Tag Team championship
They stressed during the press conference that the top two bouts count as a double main event.
