Colby Covington loves professional wrestling and The Rock specifically, if you could believe that.
UFC Welterweight Colby Covington and other members of American Top Team have been seen on Impact Wrestling recently. Bobby Lashley who is a member of American Top Team is also on the Impact Wrestling's roster. Covington and the other American Top Team members have been seen in the audience as part of a storyline. In an interview with Fightful MMA's James Lynch, Covington explained how he ended up involved in professional wrestling.
"Came together from my teammate Bobby Lashley and also my manager Dan Lambert. They made the relationship happen. It's always been something I want to do. I've always wanted to get into pro wrestling. I love the dynamics of it and everything that goes into it. That's definitely an avenue I'll look to go down in the future," said Covington.
Permission from UFC was necessary to be able to appear on Impact Wrestling according to Covington.
"My manager Dan Lambert had to call Dana White and ask him if we could be cleared for that. That's definitely something that has to be cleared with the UFC," said Covington. "We're going to be on the pay-per-view event for Global/Impact, it will be on November 6th," he added.
Covington also discussed his favorite wrestler The Rock and how professional wrestling is "watered down" now. He says American Top Team adds a new dimension to Impact Wrestling.
Impact Wrestling's Bound For Glory will be airing on November 5th, then over the next week Impact Wrestling will be taping a series of television episodes which Covington said he will be involved.
The rest of the interview is available on James Lynch's YouTube Channel.
