UFC President Dana White is knee deep in negotiations for the potential boxing super fight pitting UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor against Floyd Mayweather.
In the mind of the UFC President, a 50-50 purse split for the fight is more than fair.
“We haven’t even got there yet,” White said to reporters before a NY Mets game. “We haven’t even talked percentages yet. … Floyd can think whatever, but the machine that the UFC has and Conor McGregor alone is a machine by himself. I think that 50-50 is pretty fair.”
The lightweight champion has already signed a bout agreement for the fight, while negotiations are on going with Mayweather.
White also has a prediction for just how well the potential fight will do on pay-per-view.
“I think this thing does, conservatively, between 2-1/2 and 4 million buys,” White said. “Other people think more. … And this thing will kill it, globally. Conor McGregor and the UFC are huge in Brazil, huge in Australia, massive in the UK and other parts of Europe.”
A date for the potential fight has yet to be set, but a Showtime executive says that the potential bout should take place sometime in the fall.
