The Fox Network has been the home of the UFC for a few years now and at the end of 2018, that deal comes to a conclusion.
When the UFC signs its next broadcast deal, it could come on a digital platform according to UFC President Dana White.
“Absolutely (the UFC could be on a digital platform),” White said on The Unnamed Podvideocast. “That stuff is all about to change. When I grew up, we had Channel 3, Channel 5, Channel 8 and Channel 13. And then the channel Sesame Street is on. Those are all the channels that we had, right?”
Prior to the deal with Fox, the UFC Had a contract with Viacom that saw them air events of both Spike TV and Versus.
No matter where the UFC ends up next, the UFC President says he has nothing to worry about because fighting works everywhere all over the planet.
“Fighting, it works everywhere, all across the planet,” White said. “Now with technology, we’re getting to the point I always dreamed about. I always used to say, ‘We’ll take this thing all around the world, build a fanbase, build some talent in every country around the world and then we’ll get to a point in time where everybody can watch it at the same time — on the same platform.’ We’re getting to that day.”
Currently, the UFC’s deal with Fox allows them to air events on Fox, Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2, FX and FXX.
