"I'm trying to get back into wrestling. I don't think that's a real secret. If I want to go back to wrestling, I want to come back and work a much safer style. One of the things I always loved about Jerry Lawler and Terry Funk is that, okay, Jerry Lawler had a heart attack, and, about a year or two ago, he wrestled Terry Funk and threw a fireball in his face. That's awesome. I don't know how old Jerry is, maybe 60-something, but he's still out there. He's still wrestling. He doesn't need to wrestle. He's not wrestling because he needs to be a big star or make money. He does it because he loves it," Bryan said.

Bryan's wife Brie Bella recently said in an interview that Bryan has been doing hyperbaric oxygen therapy for two years in the hope that he could get cleared to wrestle again. In the meantime, Bryan has remained an on-screen character serving as the SmackDown Live general manager since last year.
