Conor McGregor agreed to Floyd Mayweather's terms because he does not care.
The first stop of the press conference tour for Floyd Mayweather versus Conor McGregor was in Los Angeles and McGregor talked about the concessions he made to fight Mayweather. The boxing match has been set for August 26th in Las Vegas. The match came after UFC Lightweight Champion McGregor challenged undefeated boxer Mayweather. At the press conference, McGregor took time to express how mixed-martial-arts is a superior form of fighting.
"I don't fear this limited set of fighting. This is a limited set of rules, that makes this a half a fight, a quarter of a fight. This isn't a true fight. If this was a true fight it wouldn't take one round," said McGregor.
Not only will the two fighters meet in Mayweather's sport, McGregor said he let Mayweather pick the other stipulations.
"All these rules, all these restrictions...It doesn't phase me, it amuses me. The gloves, they have to be ten ounce...he wants the gloves up, no problem. Give him the gloves up, I'll wear ten ounces. No Mexican made gloves, ok no problem. No gloves made out of horse hair, ok no problem I don't give a fuck. We've only been wearing gloves in our game for about five years. I don't give a fuck," said McGregor.
After McGregor stepped away from the podium, Mayweather got his chance to speak. He talked about his long tenure at the top of boxing and said he will defeat any opponent. He went farther by saying he would fight in a The Octagon or with any gloves McGregor wanted.
"I don't give a fuck if it's a ring. I don't give a fuck if it's a octagon. Put me in there and I'm going to kick ass," said Mayweather. "If you want eight ounce gloves, lets put eight ounce gloves on. If you want four ounce gloves, lets put four ounce gloves on," he later added.
McGregor interrupted Mayweather a couple times to say Mayweather was afraid to step into mixed-martial-arts. For the rest of the press conference the two fighters verbally sparred about Mayweather's tax issues and McGregor's loss to Nate Diaz.
