The UFC has announced their newest Hall of Fame inductee -- Joe Silva.
Silva was a longtime matchmaker for the Ultimate Fighting Championship, before finally calling it a career at the end of 2016. Silva was responsible in booking the UFC from the pre-Ultimate Fighter era, all the way through the sale to WME-IMG. Mick Maynard and Sean Shelby -- the latter of which worked alongside Silva -- replaced him upon his exit. The company made the announcement during the UFC 211 broadcast.
The induction will be a part of the "contributor" wing, which includes co-creator Bob Meyrowitz, commentator and advocate Jeff Blatnick, and the late Charles "Mask" Lewis.
Shelby joins Urijah Faber and Maurice Smith in the 2017 UFC Hall of Fame class.
