Holly Holm technically lost Saturday night at UFC 208, but if she has her way, opponent Germaine de Randamie won't be UFC Featherweight Champion either.
Holm dropped a controversial unanimous decision to Germaine de Randamie at UFC 208 last Saturday for the company's inaugural women's featherweight title. During the bout, referee Todd Anderson made questionable decisions that Holm thinks altered the course of the fight. Anderson wasn't quick enough to step in and allowed two punches from de Randamie to land after the bell sounded, but didn't deduct a point.
By way of her attorneys, Holm is requesting the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) to review what they say is Anderson's "failure to deduct one or more points from Germaine de Randamie following her repeated strikes thrown after the horn sounded to end Rounds 2 and 3.”
The complaint states that Holm's camp believes that proper point deductions would have resulted in a win for Holm, or a draw.
“We respectfully request the commission review referee Anderson’s failure to assess a foul and render a decision regarding a point deduction following Round 2, and failure to assess a foul and a point deduction following Round 3, and determine an appropriate result,” reads the complaint.
The New York State Athletic commission issued the following statement to Fightful.com and other media outlets:
“As of this time, the Commission has not yet received an appeal from the Holm camp. It will be properly considered when, and if, received.”
