Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm suffered a decision defeat to Germaine De Randamie at UFC 208, the loss meant that De Randamie became the first ever UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion.
Holm, who suffered illegal strikes after the bell sounded for rounds two and three, filed an appeal with the New York State Athletic Commission.
The female star was recently notified by the NYSAC that her appeal has been denied, which means that there will be no action against De Randamie.
“After a review of the video footage of the bout, the New York State Athletic Commission determined that there was no clear error or violation of statute or rule by Referee Todd Anderson,” an NYSAC official told MMA Fighting. “Therefore, the scoring and outcome of the bout will not be modified.”
Upon hearing the news that his client lost the appeal, agent Lenny Fresquez said the following to MMA Fighting.
“We respect their decision and will not seek anything further, except a rematch from Germaine,” says Fresquez.
De Randamie has stated that she is willing to give Holm a rematch for the gold, something Holm has asked for since the loss at UFC 208.
Another point to ponder is that De Randamie is currently in the process of determining whether or not hand surgery is in her future.
