The planned Luke Rockhold vs. Jacare Souza match has been pulled.
According to MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani, former UFC Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold was forced to back out of his November 26 fight after sustaining an undisclosed injury. There's no word on if Ronaldo 'Jacare' Souza will remain on the show, but it doesn't look promising.
This was set to be a pivotal matchup in the competitive middleweight division. Gegard Mousasi is staying busy with top-10 opponent Uriah Hall, while Chris Weidman and Yoel Romero do battle at UFC 205. This created a unique sense of competition to gain the next title shot against champion Michael Bisping. Bisping defeated Rockhold to claim the title at UFC 199.
Another middleweight matchup featuring top-10 fighters Roberto Whittaker and Derek Brunson is currently the co-main event and may move up if Rockhold isn't replaced. UFC Fight Night Melbourne takes place November 26.
