UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk successfully defended her belt against Jessica Andrade at UFC 211.
However, a question asked by a reporter at the UFC 211 post-fight press conference caused the champion to become emotional and exit the press area.
A reporter (Ariel Helwani) had asked her about the departure of American Top Team coach Kami Barzini, which caused the champion to give a brief answer before exiting.
“He’s amazing,” Jedrzejczyk said. “I don’t know. I don’t want to talk about it. We didn’t want to talk about it.”
Despite the coach leaving ATT in the near future, the champion wants the fans and ATT to know that she isn’t going anywhere while building her brand.
“That’s why I moved to the U.S., that’s why I moved to ATT – because I want to build my brand in the U.S.,” Jedrzejczyk said. “MMA in Poland is very big, but there are other organizations. The UFC is going to be for the second time in Poland this year. People know a lot about my MMA, but I feel like I’m an international champion. The UFC is simply the best organization in the world, and most of the shows are here in the United States. I feel like I need to be here (to) build my brand. I just signed with new management, I met a few agents and I want to put on more outside the gym, outside the octagon. But the most important thing is to work hard and to keep defending the belt.”
Jedrzejczyk is now one successful title defense away from tying the women’s title defense record set by Ronda Rousey, the champion's next fight has yet to be announced.
