Jon Jones Goes To Twitter To Respond To Fans About Possible Failed Drug Test

MMA

Jon Jones has finally responded to the news of his possible drug test failure that surfaced the week of UFC 200.

Jones participated in a Twitter Q&A on July 18 to address the USADA violation, and didn't shy away from addressing the situation. The former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion believes he didn't do anything wrong and is optimistic that he will be able to prove as such.

Don't write me off just yet, I know in my heart that I'm not a cheater. I trust in the system to help me prove it

When Jones was told on Twitter that the substance in question was used to cover steroid use, Jones agreed and didn't explicitly deny taking it, but did deny taking steroids.

You're absolutely right man, I learned that myself over the last week. But it doesnt mean you actually took steroids

Jones was also prodded about how many comebacks he needed, referring to his previous transgressions with drugs and a hit-and-run incident back in late 2014. Jones responded by saying that he is willing to work for more opportunities.

As many as it takes for me to get it right, as many as I'm willing to fight for

Jones was also criticized about 'painting himself out to be a victim,' something in which he says he's not trying to do.

Not trying 2 come across as a victim if anything Im a victim of my own ignorance & yes this could've been prevented

-Jon Jones

On Monday, it was reported that Jones tested positive for Hydroxy-clomiphene and Letrozole metabolite, and was subsequently given a temporary UFC suspension by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. A formal hearing regarding the matter is expected in September or October.
