There has been a new fight added to the upcoming UFC 216 card and it takes place in the women’s flyweight division as Andrea Lee is in action against Kalindra Faria.
MMA Fighting first announced the fight.
There is no word yet if this fight will take the place on the Paige VanZant/Jessica Eye fight on the pay-per-view portion of the card or if it will get placed elsewhere.
Lee (8-2-0) is going to be making her UFC debut in this fight and she is doing so on the strength of a four fight winning streak. Lee is also the current Legacy Fighting Alliance Women’s Flyweight Champion and she has defended the belt once already. Lee also competed in the Invicta Fighting Championships, where she holds a win over TUF 26 cast member Rachel Ostovich.
Faria (18-5-1) will also be making her UFC debut in this fight and she is also the current Titan Fighting Championships Women’s Flyweight Champion. Faria is also returning to action after a year-plus layoff, as her last bout took place in September of 2016. Faria had also challenged for the World Series Of Fighting Women’s Strawweight Title, losing to then champion Jessica Aguilar at the WSOF 15.
UFC 216 takes place on Saturday, October 7 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
