Matt Bessette Replaces Arnold Allen At UFC 220

Arnold Allen ha suffered an injury and has been pulled from next weeks UFC 220 card, replacing him against Enrique Barzola is going to be Matt Bessette.

Barzola (13-3-1) enters the bout on a two fight winning streak, defeating the duo of Chris Avila and Gabriel Benitez. Barzola has seen his last four fights go the distance and the competitor has won three of those four bouts, while suffering a lone defeat to Kyle Bochniak at UFC On Fox 21. Barzola also won the UFC Ultimate Fighter Latin America 2, defeating Horacio Gutierrez in the reality show finals.

Bessette (22-7-0-1NC) is going to be making his UFC debut in this fight, but the fighter is also the current CES MMA Featherweight Champion. Bessette was defeated by Kurt Holobaugh on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 1, but the bout was overturned to a no contest after Holobaugh failed to disclose IV usage to the Nevada Athletic Commission. Bessette also competed in Bellator MMA, where he defeated UFC veteran Diego Nunes at Bellator 110.

UFC 220 takes place on Saturday, January 20 from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts with Stipe Miocic and Francis Ngannou headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
