Matt Cappotelli's Brain Tumor Has Returned, Posts Update From Hospital

The story of Matt Cappotelli is a tragic one.

He was the co-winner of Tough Enough Season 3 with John Hennigan (current Lucha Underground Champion Johnny Mundo), then after a few enhancement matches, was sent down to OVW to train and work on his promo delivery. About a year later he became OVW Champion and was all set to get called up to the main roster, but he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. When the tumor was found to be malignant, he was forced to relinquish the title and he underwent successful surgery in May of 2007.

Unfortunately, he was forced to retire from the ring, and he was released when his contract expired in 2009. He became the trainer for OVW's beginners program in 2013. Things were looking up.

Unfortunately, the brain tumor has returned, more aggressive this time, and Cappotelli is heading back into surgery.

The following was posted to his wife Lindsay's Facebook page:

"Waiting to get taken for my MRI and get prepared for my second brain surgery tomorrow. Just found out that the tumor I had removed 10 years ago has come back much more aggressively and needs to be dealt with. It's a very large tumor and there's a portion that is inoperable. The portion that they are hoping to remove will be sent to pathology to determine what exactly we are dealing with and provide insight on future treatment plans and the inoperable portion in my brain stem."

The post also included a photo of Cappotelli in the hospital.

We here at Fightful wish Cappotelli all the best in his surgery and hope he makes a full and speedy recovery.
