Melvin Guillard Suspended For One Year After Failed Drug Test

Melvin Guillard's winless streak technically continues, and he has much larger problems in front of him.

The Bellator fighter was suspended for a year by the Kansas Athletic Commission after testing positive for an unnamed banned substance at Bellator 159. The KAC announced Friday that in addition to the suspension, Guillard would be fined $10,000.

We can confirm that the substance was not a performance enhancing drug.

The Kansas Athletic Commission found out about the drug test on August 3, from an in-competition test conducted at Bellator 159 on July 22. Guillard emerged victorious that night in his fight over David Rickels, but that bout result will be changed to a no-contest.

The often inconsistent Guillard missed weight for the fourth time in just a couple of years ahead of his bout with Rickels, and promised a move up to Welterweight. Guillard also tested positive for cocaine in 2007.
