UFC On ESPN 35 Highlights: Marlon Vera Puts On A Show Vs Rob Font

Marlon Vera def. Rob Font via Unanimous Decision (48-47, 49-46, 49-46)

In an outsanding fight that you've come to expect from the top of the bantamweight division, Marlon Vera and Rob Font went to war, and Vera weathered an early storm from Font only to rally back and threaten the finish in each of the remaining four rounds of the fight. Vera through a variety of wicked kicks and knees that sent Font to the canvas three times. By the end of the fight, Font's face was barely even recognizable.

Andrei Arlovski def. Jake Collier via Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 27-30)

In a controversial decision, Andrei Arlovski picked up the win over Jake Collier, and with it tied the record for most UFC wins with 23 victories. Colliers fought very hard, and looked like he had done enough to get the win, and stormed out of the cage once the scores were read.

Joanderson Brito def. Andre Fili via TKO (Punches) (Rd. 1 0:41)

In a massive upset, Joanderson Brito scored a first-minute knockout over longtime UFC veteran Andre Fili. Fili came into the fight at near a three to one favourite

Grant Dawson def. Jared Gordon via Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) (Rd. 3 4:11)

Grant Dawson displayed his relentless wrestling approach, and spent the majority of the fight on top of Jared Gordon's back. While Gordon rallied and looked dangerous in the third round, Dawson was able to get a desperation takedown and finally was able to secure the choke. A highly impressive display from Dawson, and showing he's likely ready for a ranked opponent next.

Darren Elkins def. Tristan Connelly via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Darren Elkins put forth a typical bloody brawl, and was able to grind out a violent victory over Tristan Connelly. If you've seen one Elkins fight, you've basically seen them all, and he delivered.

Krzysztof Jotko def. Gerald Meerschaert via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

In a competitive bout, Krzysztof Jotko was consistently a step ahead of Gerald Meerschaert both on their feet, and when the fight hit the ground. Jotko looked excellent and was able to stave off a stronger third round from Meerschaert and get the win easily on the judges score cards.

Alexander Romanov def. Chase Sherman via Submission (Americana) (Rd. 1 2:11)

Alexander Romanov came into his fight against Chase Sherman as the biggest betting favourite in UFC history and he proved why by completely obliterating his opponent. Sherman could do nothing to prevent Romanov taking him down at will, and once Romanov secured control on the ground he got the Americana shortly afterwards. Very impressive by a rising heavyweight prospect who should be ranked very soon.

Francisco Figueiredo def. Daniel Lacerda via Submission (Kneebar) (Rd 1 1:18)

The younger brother of the UFC's flyweight champion put on a spectacular performance in getting the submission victory over Daniel Lacerda. Lacerda landed an early takedown, but Figueiredo scrambled brilliantly to transition into a very slick kneebar.

Gabriel Green def. Yohan Lainesse via TKO (Punches) (Rd. 2 4:02)

Yohan Lainesse came out strong in his UFC debut, using his frame and kicks to really take the fight to Gabe Green. However in the second round he seemed to hit a hard wall and gas, which allowed Green to take over and win the fight via ground and pound.

Natan Levy def. Mike Breeden via Decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)

Shanna Young def. Gina Mazany via TKO (Punches) (Rd. 2 3:11)

Shanna Young saved her UFC career by putting forth an excellent performance to get the finish over UFC veteran Gina Mazany.
