Alex Oliveira Doesn’t Want Mike Perry Talking About His Mother

Alex Oliveira and Mike Perry are set to collide in a welterweight division attraction this weekend at UFC Fight Night Fort Lauderdale.

Neither fighter has engaged in much trash talking in the lead up to the bout, but Oliveira just wants to make sure that Perry doesn’t mentioned his mother at all.

“This guy, Mike Perry — I don’t even know how to say his name. … This guy is aggressive and brings problems,” Oliveira told MMA Fighting. "He’s a bit problematic, a trash talker, but he’s in for a fight. As long as he doesn’t talk about my mom, we’re cool. I’m focused, I’m feeling great. I’m ready for everything. The strategy changed a little bit, but let’s do it.”

Perry hasn’t mentioned Oliveira’s mother in any trash talking, while Oliveira hasn’t mentioned Perry’s mom as well.

Oliveira also knows that the welterweight division is crazy right now, but is ready for just about everything the weight class can throw at him.

“The welterweight division is crowded, but we have to be ready for everything,” Oliveira said. “The champion has changed, there are a lot of big-name fighters there, but I’m a tough fight for anyone. I want to become UFC champion, so I have to stay focused and keep my hands heavy. Any top 10 [opponent], whoever they bring me next, I’m good. I’ll beat [Perry] anyway, I know that. It’s my time, it’s my moment. I had a hiccup (against Nelson), it’s part of the game, but I’m back now. I’ll run through [Perry] now. My time is coming.”

UFC Fight Night Fort Lauderdale takes place on Saturday, April 27 from the BB&T Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with Ronaldo Souza and Jack Hermansson headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on ESPN.
