UFC bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling, has no problem being overlooked by the public or promotion ahead of his clash with former two-division champ, Henry Cejudo.
Sterling spoke with reporters during Wednesday's media day for Saturday's UFC 288 event in Newark, New Jersey, and explained why he looks forward to spoiling the 2008 Olympic gold medalist's return to the Octagon after a brief three-year retirement from the sport.
“To see the energy the staff has put behind [promoting the card], maybe it’s not for me to win, but I don’t really give a s***,” Sterling said (h/t Yahoo! Sports). “I think it’s cool either way, even if they don’t think I’m the guy who’s going to get the job done. I like to play spoiler. What better way to do that than on the East Coast, first champion ever from Long Island to defend back home and shock the world once again against another former world champion? And did you guys know he was an Olympic gold medalist? I’m not sure if you guys got that memo.”
