The Octagon will make its return to Massachusetts for the first time since October 2019, as UFC 292 is set to take place on August 19 from the TD Garden in Boston.
UFC President Dana White officially confirmed the news via a live video stream on Tuesday night, revealing that reigning bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling, and top contender "Suga" Sean O'Malley will meet in the night's main event. Sterling is currently riding a nine-fight winning streak and is coming off a split-decision win over former two-division UFC champ, Henry Cejudo, at UFC 288 earlier this month. O'Malley meanwhile is 4-0-1 in his last five Octagon outings and will look to build on a split-decision victory over former bantamweight champ, Petr Yan, at UFC 280 last October in Abu Dhabi.
Additionally, White announced that UFC strawweight champion, Zhang Weili, will defend her title against Amanda Lemos in the night's co-feature. Weili is 4-2 in her last six fights and is coming off a second-round submission win over former champ, Carla Esparza, at UFC 281 back in November. Lemos on the other hand is 7-1 in her last eight promotional appearances and will look to build on a third-round TKO victory over, Marina Rodriguez, at UFC Vegas 64 also back in November.
