Bellator MMA Announces 9 Of The 10 Welterweight Tournament Participants, First Fight Set

The upcoming Bellator MMA Welterweight Tournament kicks off with Bellator 205 on Saturday, September 29 in San Jose, California.

Nine of the ten participants have been announced for the tournament, which include Bellator MMA Welterweight Champion Rory MacDonald, Yaroslav Amosov, Jon Fitch, Neiman Gracie, former Bellator MMA Welterweight Champion Andrey Koreshkov, former Bellator MMA Welterweight Champion Douglas Lima, Lorenz Larkin, Ed Ruth and Michael Page.

A tenth participant will get announced at a future date. Four of the ten fighters will compete in qualifying matches for spots in the tournament, it is unknown which members of the field are guaranteed spots and which have to qualify first.

One of the tournament bouts has already been announced, with former welterweight champions Andrey Koreshkov and Douglas Lima meeting up at Bellator 205. This is going to be the third meeting between the two former champions, with Koreshkov winning at Bellator 140 and Lima winning at Bellator 164. This is the second tournament that Bellator MMA has begun in 2018, with the heavyweight world grand prix currently in the semi-final phase. 

Bellator 205 takes place on Saturday, September 29 from the SAP Center in San Jose, California with Gegard Mousasi and Rory MacDonald headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on DAZN.
