UFC lightweight contender Beneil Dariush has been forced out of his upcoming UFC Vegas 49 main event bout with Islam Makhachev on February 26 due to an undisclosed ankle injury.
Journalist Ariel Helwani was the first to report the news of Dariush's removal, with ESPN's Brett Okamoto being the first to report that Bobby Green will replace Dariush and face Makhachev next Saturday night. Makhachev is 9-0 in his last nine Octagon outings and is coming off of a first-round submission win via a kimura against Dan Hooker back at UFC 267. Green meanwhile is 5-2 in his last seven appearances and will try to build on a unanimous decision victory over Nasrat Haqparast at last weekend's UFC 271 PPV.
