It has been a rough year for UFC Hall Of Famer BJ Penn, but the often injured fighter has been given a bit of good news as Hilo (Hawaii) police have cleared the fighter from sexual assault charges. TMZ broke the news first.
The police turned over evidence gathered to the prosecutor, who also cleared Penn of any wrong doing citing a general lack of evidence.
Penn has been asserting that the accuser, the former webmaster of BJPenn.com Pedro Alex Carrasco, was looking for payback after he was fired from his position by drumming up tales of abuse and drug usage by the UFC legend.
Penn has attempted to return to the Octagon three times in 2016. The first attempt was canceled after the aforementioned sexual assault charges, the second was canceled after a USADA violation and Penn pulled out of a third attempt due to injuries.
Neither Penn, the Hilo Police Department, Hilo Lead Prosecutor or Pedro Alex Carrasco have issued any form of statement on the matter.
