Boston Salmon has suffered an injury to his left knee and he has been pulled from next weekends UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo card, where he was supposed to fight Raoni Barcelos.

Combate was the first to report the news.

Barcelos will no longer remain on the card because UFC officials have opted to not find a late replacement fighter for him to compete against.

With that bout off the card, the UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo event will move on with just 13 bouts.

MMA Fighting also reported that Salmon’s knee injury may require surgery, which he will learn more about this coming week.

Salmon got a UFC contract after competing on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 1, where he defeated Ricky Turcios by unanimous decision. Barcelos was a replacement for the injured Augusto Mendes, who pulled out of UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo over a week ago.

There is no word at this time if the fight is going to be rebooked for a future event or if both fighters will go their opposite ways.

UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo takes place on Saturday, October 28 from the Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil with Lyoto Machida and Derek Brunson headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
