Brad Pickett Out Of Retirement, Faces Takeya Mizugaki At ACB 91

MMA

Brad Pickett had announced his retirement from mixed martial arts after a knockout loss to Marlon Vera at UFC Fight Night 107.

However, a little over a year after retiring, it is Pickett who has signed a multi-fight deal with Absolute Championship Berkut and will debut against fellow UFC veteran Takeya Mizugaki at ACB 91 this August.

Picket claims one of the biggest reasons he is coming out of retirement is to satisfy a long held desire to fight Mizugaki.

“I wanted to fight Takeya Mizugaki a few times in the UFC but it never materialized,” said Pickett to MMA Fighting. “He’s with ACB too so it seems like a good time to do it. He’s an older guy as well so I think it’s more on my playing field. I don’t need to fight some young kid. I don’t have a point to prove, I just want to be involved in a really good fight.”

Mizugaki, who left the UFC after a loss to Eddie Wineland at UFC On Fox 22, has won just one of three leading into the encounter with Pickett.

Absolute Championship Berkut 91 takes place on Saturday, August 11 from the Copper Boxing Arena in London, England with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on Youtube.
