Chris Weidman Undergoes Successful Surgery After Leg Injury At UFC 261

Eric Bischoff Comments On Whether His Role At MLW One Shot Is A One Off

Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman suffered a horrific leg injury during his rematch with Uriah Hall on the main card of UFC 261.

Weidman broke his right leg just 17 seconds into the fight after getting a right outside low kick checked from Hall. The horrendous injury was apparent instantly and Weidman was immediately put on a stretcher. There was unfortunate irony in the moment, given that MMA legend Anderson Silva suffered a similar injury from Weidman checking a leg kick during their rematch back at UFC 168 in December 2013. The video below was tweeted from UFC President Dana White showcasing the injury Weidman suffered, viewer discretion is advised.

Some good news though has come from Weidman's wife Marivi Weidman when she posted the following statement to her Instagram page with a picture of the middleweight contender seemingly in good spirits giving a thumbs up post-surgery. There are still no specific details regarding Weidman's actual injury or a timetable for when he could potentially return to the Octagon.
