Conor McGregor Comments On UFC 223 Bus Attack, Says Nurmagomedov Would’ve Died That Day

Former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor and a who’s who of cohorts attacked a bus full of UFC fighters a few days before UFC 223.

The goal for the bus attacking squadron was to get at UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, who McGregor says would’ve died that day if he got off the bus.

“I just thank the lord Jesus Christ that man hadn’t got the balls to step foot off that bus. Because trust me, if that bus door had opened, this man would be dead right now. This man would be in a box and I would be in a cell and we would not have this great fight ahead of us. There are many things I can speak on about that incident about the lead-up and about my emotions and things like that, but there are still many ongoing situations in it, so I am just here to compete,” McGregor said at the UFC 229 press conference.

McGregor has already been punished by the state of New York for his actions and could be facing several civil lawsuits by those affected from the attack.

While the bus attack was taking place, a ranting McGregor said that Nurmagomedov hid in the back of the bus.

“When the person you were looking for showed up, you took a (expletive) on the back of the bus,” says McGregor.

UFC 229 takes place on Saturday, October 6 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
