UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor is less than two weeks away from making his professional boxing debut against Floyd Mayweather.
No matter the result of the super fight, the Irishman plans on competing in both MMA and boxing going forward.
“I love the sport of boxing,” McGregor said at a media scrum. “Boxing has been dear to my heart my whole, entire life. “I will contend in boxing bouts going forward, and I will contend in mixed martial arts bouts going forward. I will rule both with an iron fist, and that’s where my mindset is.”
McGregor has not stated which he will do after his super fight, compete in another boxing match next or return to MMA.
The build up to the fight has been pretty intense between McGregor and Mayweather, but the lightweight champion is having fun throughout the whole process.
“I will have fun,” McGregor said. “I like it over this side. It’s good. The buildup is good, the preparation is good, I love the sport of boxing, I love the sport of mixed martial arts. I just love fighting. So wherever there’s a fight, you’ll see me.”
Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather takes place on Saturday, August 26 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
