It seems that attempt number two for the Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone versus Robbie Lawler fight is ending the same as as the first attempt did, with the fight being scrapped.

Cowboy has suffered an undisclosed injury and has been pulled from UFC 213, the former UFC Welterweight Champion in Lawler has also been pulled from the card.

Luke Thomas of MMA Fighting was the first to break the news.

Reports suggest that Cerrone’s injury isn’t very serious and that the fight could be pushed back a few weeks to UFC 214, but nothing has been confirmed.

The first encounter between Lawler and Cowboy was set for UFC 205, but it was Lawler who pulled out of that fight. Lawler stated that he still needed time to recover after losing his title to Tyron Woodley at UFC 201, that loss came via first round knockout.

This battle of fan favorites was a part of the pay-per-view portion of the UFC 213 card, there is no word on which fight will take its place.

UFC 213 takes place on Saturday, July 8 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
