Dan Hooker hopes to avoid being the victim of another viral Conor McGregor moment when he shares the stage at the press conference for next weekend's UFC 257 card.
Hooker noted he was looking forward to the added spotlight that comes when sharing the stage with a personality as large as McGregor, when interviewed by MMA Junkie's Mike Bohn in Abu Dhabi.
“To be honest, I’m a fan of the sport – it’ll be pretty surreal to be sitting up with those guys at such a huge press conference like that,” Hooker commented. “I don’t put too much thought into it. I’m not a guy who goes away and practices my lines in the mirror or anything like that. I’m going to take it as it comes. Ninety-nine percent of the focus will be on Conor and what he’s going to do and what he’s going to say.”
Hooker went on to note that he doesn't want to become known for a moment like the 'who the fook is that guy' moment McGregor shared with Jeremy Stephens back in 2016.
“You’ve got to be on your toes,” Hooker said. “You don’t want to get ‘Who the 'fook' is that guy’d?’ or something like that. He could chuck you in the can in one line.”
Hooker fights incoming former Bellator champion Michael Chandler in the co-main event of UFC 257 next week, and is coming off an incredibly exciting decision loss to Dustin Poirier in June.
